A traditional dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by using the teeth on either side of the gap for support. These neighboring teeth are reshaped so that crowns can be placed over them, holding the artificial tooth in between. Bridges have been used successfully for decades and can restore basic chewing ability and appearance when the surrounding teeth are healthy and strong.
