If neither is readily available, the tooth may also be placed inside the child’s cheek, provided the child is conscious and cooperative; this, however, should be considered only as a last resort. Immediate transport to a dental provider is imperative. The sooner the tooth is professionally reinserted and stabilized, the greater the likelihood of successful reintegration. In contrast, primary (baby) teeth should not be reimplanted, even if they are knocked out intact.
